The Steyr Elite is the tactical precision version of the Scout rifle. Differences to the standard Scout include an extended Picatinny mounting rail, an enlarged SSG-style bolt knob, an adjustable cheek piece, and an adjustable butt plate. It is fitted with a cold-hammer-forged 22.4-inch heavy barrel. The additional features of the Elite give it a weight of 9.5 lbs., which makes it fall outside Col. Jeff Cooper's definition of a scout rifle. It is standard with two synthetic 5-round magazines, but an optional adapter kit can be attached to fit a 10-round magazine.

Sub MOA Review by Classified
Unparalleled ergonomics, fit and finish for a factory rifle. I have owned this rifle for 7yrs. It is my favourite bolt gun, lighter than most 1k yd rifles yet performs consistently. My best 5rd group was 8 inches at 1011yards (168 Nosler Custom Competition). The customer service from Steyr has also been just as good, both US & Austria. Solid company and products they havent gotten this far by accident.
BTW Coskidad is right, cleaning from bore is simple. (Posted on 3/10/2018)

3/4 MOA easily Review by CoSkiDad
Factory 3-rd test target measured 0.673 MOA at 100m, my 5-rd at 100yds measured 0.765 - including a called flyer, so better is definitely possible.

Dr. Kent is missing the bolt removal trick - raise the cheek piece to its highest position, then retract the bolt and turn the handle upwards then angle it slightly under the cheekpiece to remove. Hard to describe, but once you know it CAN be done, it's not hard to duplicate. Now the rifle can be cleaned from the breech. FWIW, the whole cheekpiece *can* be removed, but it's not necessary! Just Falls Short Review by Dr. Kent
I am really picky and I would give this 5 stars were it not for one design flaw: THERE IS NO WAY TO CLEAN THIS FROM THE BORE!

Steyr needs to redesign the stock. There is no way to remove the cheek piece and hence no direct in line access to put a cleaning rod into the chamber and abide by the manual's explicit written directions to clean the barrel in one direction--from the breech to the muzzle.

I am going to have to resort to an Otis system cleaning kit and thread their flexible rod down through the crown to the chamber. This is NOT the ideal way to clean a rifle built for sheer accuracy.

Please, Steyr, come up with a fix for this. It should be relatively easy for your engineers in Austria and let me know when I can get mine upgraded. (Posted on 10/27/2017)
As good as they come... Review by Sully
I've owned a variety of Steyr long guns, from the AUG to the rare M300 CISM match rifle, the original SSG69P1 & PII, and the Tac Elite. ALL the bolt guns are well under 1MOA accuracy and the M300 came in at a solid .5 MOA. My Elite will shoot with the best of 'em and I love the SBS action. Never a better factory rifle made and comparable to the best custom rifles that cost 2-3 X more. (Posted on 1/16/2017)
